Kershaw knives opened for business in Lake Oswego, Oregon U.S.A. in 1974 with its no-hassle lifetime guarantee. The KAI Cutlery Corporation of Japan purchased Kershaw Knives in 1978 and created Kai USA Ltd. The KAI Corporation has been Japan’s premier blade producer for 100 years. The KAI tradition of fine blade manufacturing goes back even further. KAI factories are located in Seki City, Japan’s famous samurai sword making center. In 1985 Kershaw moved to a new facility in Wilsonville, Oregon and in 1997 expanded the facility to include manufacturing, marketing and warehousing. In 2004 Kershaw moved its facility to the Tualatin Valley just south of Portland Oregon. The majority of knives in the Kershaw range are manufactured in Japan. Regardless of whether your Kershaw knife is manufactured in the USA, Japan, these products are guaranteed for the lifetime of the original owner to be free of defects when received from the factory.
